I have...
and, as I write this message, it’s ‘Achtung Baby’.... I’m listening to it now. been a while since I last lstened to it.
‘Achtung Baby’ has pretty much been my 2nd favorite album since its release (‘The Unforgettable Fire’ is my very fav ).

For me, ‘Achtung Baby’ is about re-discovery. to break away from what has become routine, to find a personal sense of freedom which was lost without even realizing it had become lost.

I’ve got ‘The Fly’ on repeat play, WooHoo, does this song rock or what?

So, which album have you re-discovered?

*dancing outta here [like Bono] singing...
‘...look I gotta go,
yeah,
I'm running outta change,
there's a lot of things
if I could I'd rearrange...’

Well I've not been listening much to U2 lately but I did pop in
"Pop" the other day. As Bono has said in the past it's a dense
record <not dance, LOL> and I have to agree. What a shame
that most ppl don't like this cd cos I love it!!!

<favorite from the PopMart era is Last Night on Earth from U2 live Mexico City> heavy man,,heavy! B)

partygirl2u, I think 'Pop' is a great album.... and much under-rated. 'Pop' was a real departure from what U2's sound had been to that point in their career. I think it to be a very creative work and I liked Pop right from the beginning.... although the song 'Wake Up Dead Man' did take a long time to grow on me.

my fav songs from 'Pop' are
'Staring at the Sun', 'Gone', 'Please' and 'Last Night on Earth'.

the Rotterdam live version of 'Please' is my fav for that song.

my first U2 show was the Tampa, Florida, USA PopMart show. I won tickets to that concert in a radio contest

hehe, and, I love what Bono said about 'Pop' being dense.... not dance. LOL, I think it to be both dense AND dance.... it makes me get up and dance like Bono when I listen to it.... B)

Yup, Mofo is my new re-discovered song. Just love the base at the start, sure good to play at any party loud!
The more I listen to Pop, the less I 'regret it' as a U2 album.
U2 Also made a few 're-released/ mixed' versions on the best of, obviously unhappy with the originals, they probably had time over the last 2 tours to get the songs sounding better.

Oh, oh my child
Alright child
It's not the last night on earth
It's Pop-life in Mexico
It's not the last night on earth
Darling don't you let me go
Mexico, Mexico, Mexico City
How did you get so high?
It's not the last night on earth
Darling stay with me tonight
'Cause the world turns
And we get dizzy
Sometimes we're slipping away....

Yeahhh THAT is about the favourite part in the whole concert for me :)

I've just rediscovered ATYCLB. I know its not that old, but Haven't played it for so long, it sounds like I'm playing one of their oldies!

As for POP, I didn't really like it, apart from one of two songs. I don't really like the style they are beginning to use in that era. Too techno for me.

I dug out Zooropa the other day and haven't stopped playing it since - my god there's some great stuff on there! Apart from the singles Stay, Numb & Lemon, which, though overplayed on radio, are brilliant, and amazingly different to each other for coming off the same album, there are some fine lyrics and DAMN FINE drumming & percussion - and not shoved too far down in the mix unlike more recent albums.

Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car is so damn cool; from the wonderfully overblown intro to "Sunday Monday..." outtro that is almost too catchy.

Some Days Are Better than Others - Adam moment! It's all about the bass.

Dirty Day I find sneaks up on me - when the song starts I often think "...hmmm.. hit skip in a mo", bu then the 'mo' never comes and I usually end up hitting repeat a few times, you can't walk away from "those days , days, days, run away like horses over the hills" bit - love it!! :o

Actually, The First Time is a bit like that. If you're not in the mood for a slow one sometimes it's a skipper but it's a fantastic song with some wonderful lyrics & imagery here from Bono, and the way he sings it is rich and almost sleepy - sounds almost like someone taking confession through a bottle of whiskey at 3am!

The only song I don't like on this one is The Wanderer. :) [gasp - how dare she say that?!] Sorry Johnny, it's not you, mate, just the song doesn't grab me. Babyface sneaks into the playlist but only just, the overly cutesy toy piano grates on my nerves a bit.

Last note - thank you Joe O'H for being there at that soundcheck!

All together now - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday'S ALRIGHT!

Cheers ~Ultra
