I have personally bought new every official U2 or U2 related (ie Passengers, Mission Impossible, Batman) commercial release CD single (including DVD singles) since Achtung Baby. These are mostly NZL and UK releases, with some AUS, US and Canadian Issues as well. Also, second hand, I have bought the Unforgettable Fire 'ep' Cd Single, All Joshua Tree Singles (not OTH, as it wasn't released on CD), all Rattle and Hum Singles, and the odd pre-release/promo singles as well.
As far as I know, the only official releases I don't own are
U2 R.O.K. (664972)
New Year's Day (664973)
Sunday, Bloody Sunday (664971)
Pride (664975)
I have a full list, including all 'serial numbers' etc which I can post at a later date.
SO... here's my thoughts.
I would probably want to sell the lot as one package. I figure it's worth more as a collection(?), and it's a bit painful to do things any other way. I might likely throw in some extras too; the odd tour souvineer? - perhaps some of my old music magazines which have U2 covers/stories of note... I have a dozen or so and they date back to the early 90's. The Numb 'numbered' VHS single (though it's not rare by any means), perhaps some other U2 bits and pieces.
Any advice on selling? What do you think it's worth? How you think I should go about it: Privately-Online/Zootopia/Forums/Auction Sites (US/UK eBay), shipped from NZ?! Whether any of you might be interested? I'm not planning to do this for a while, unless I get lots of interest and figure I can get things sorted on my behalf in NZ while I'm here in UK. Just, well, fishing right now.
I figure it's a fairly significant collection. No?
Oh, and I'm not 'ripping and selling' either - all digital copies would be deleted (thought I might offer a DVD iTunes Archive to the prospective buyer to save them ripping them all). I'm not into bootlegging official mercandise!
Who knows, I might get myself a nice second hand Telecaster after all.
Discuss.
