It has a hymnal church-like quality reminiscent of "The Hands That Built America" in terms of the lo-fi sound and Bono's contemplative delivery. Bono's vocals have a hushed confessional feel about them and yet there is a sense of brooding unease too.
It's a mournful lament that contrasts with and adds subtle shade to NLOTH's dominant cacophony of noise.
Now this dry ground it bears no fruit at all
Only poppies laugh under the crescent moon
