U2.com has confirmed that the Achtung Baby Remaster will be released in 5 formats on the 31st of October 2011. The release will include a limited edition "Uber" Deluxe Edition which includes just about everything except some of the Berlin Wall. Interestingly, Zooropa is included in the release, indicating the remaster of Zooropa will not have its own individual release but will be a part of the ZOO TV themed Achtung Baby release. As previously reported, Davis Guggenheim's documentary, From The Sky Down, is included in many of the formats.

The formats as listed on U2.comare below:

1. A limited, numbered Uber Deluxe Edition is a magnetic puzzle tiled box which will contain: 6 CDs including the original Achtung Baby album, the follow-up album, Zooropa, B-sides and re-workings of previously unheard material recorded during the Achtung Baby sessions. 4 DVDs including 'From The Sky Down', 'Zoo TV:Live From Sydney', all the videos from Achtung Baby plus bonus material. There will also be 5 clear 7" vinyl singles in their original sleeves, 16 art prints taken from the original album sleeve, an 84-page hardback book, a copy of Propaganda magazine, 4 badges, a sticker sheet, and a pair of Bono’s trademark 'The Fly' sunglasses.

2. The Super Deluxe Edition will contain the 6CDs and 4 DVDs, in addition to a 92 page hardback book and 16 art prints in a wallet.

3. The Vinyl Box Set is a limited release containing 4 LPs, two of which are pressed on translucent blue vinyl containing remixes and B-sides. The box includes a 16 page booklet.

4. The Deluxe Edition is a 2xCD set containing the reissue of the original album plus B-sides and rarities.

5. The Standard CD is the original album.

May not be remastered- I have just noticed it does not actually say it is remastered anywhere? Also, here is a link to suggested tracklisting from universal:  http://store.univers...aign=UMG+Stores

Well, if it doesn't contain remastered audio, that will be a major disappointment for me and I won't be half as interested in it. Surely it must be remastered but, yeah, why doesn't it actually state that it is? Odd.

I am a little with you re the remaster and am not that excited by more remixes- the BABY CD is also strange.... althought let's be honest- we will be going the UBER just for the Fly Shades!

I want some substance. I hope they do a little more talking about how painstakingly they have improved the sound quality of  Achtung Baby AND Zooropa. I'm one of those people who like to either drown in the music with headphones on or nice and loud on the strereo, and the CD's always had quite a bit of room for improvement. Zooropa has some awesome songs on it, but I guess due to the hurried nature of it's birth the sound is pretty muddy throughout. If they don't focus on the sound quality then it's really just bells and whistles and a missed opportunity, at least for me. Surely they will remaster them, right? That's kinda been the main point of the re-releases so far.

Having said that :).....sounds like there could be a few new goodies for everyone. Newer fans can scoop up some of the things that were released at the time and are now harder to come by. And the demo versions and (officially) unreleased tracks will be fantastic to hear in CD quality.

Just looking at marbecks, $656.99!!! Something inside me tells me I should get it. Mike I suppose if it isn't 'remastered' in anyway, the higher priced packages with bonus material would be worth the buy instead?

Just preordered it on Amazon.co.uk - 275 GBP (that's ~$535 NZD or ~$431 AUD at current exchange rates) and it comes with free shipping to Oz/NZ.
Price guaranteed and if it goes lower before dispatch (Oct 31) you get the lower price.

I'd be getting Marbecks to try and match that price or just buy from Amazon.

Hoping for remastered audio too, but I think there's still plenty of value in the Uber box set anyway.

http://getmusic.com....17863&aid=15106  this is the only link for Oz i can find- this is Universal's online store (remember the one that sold No Line early!). $500.00 AUD. I still don't think that the content is finalised either.... My only gripes are the remastering and including Sydney Zoo TV- a compilation of other Zoo TV shows what be preferabl:. we know they recoreded Adelaide, Washington, New York and others.... I think the doco could be fansastic however and will include live tracks they recorded a few months back...

Although it does say 'Anniversary Edition', you might be onto something. Just wondering if digital media, ie. after 1990, actually needs to be remastered? Instead a car load of rare, unseen, bonus material is chucked into different formats.

I wonder why Rattle & Hum hasn't been 'remastered' yet? There are probably millions of different ideas for formats and endless amounts of material to play around with. Maybe they are still working on it.
