2.  POSTS

2-1.  Subject-lines

When starting a new thread, please make your subject-line reflect the content of your post.  Subject-lines may be edited by a moderator, if deemed necessary, to better reflect the main topic of any given thread.

2-2.  Replies

When replying to previous posts, please avoid quoting them in their entirety (unless they are relatively short, or you think it is absolutely necessary to do so).  Learn how to edit the quoted text, and include only enough to establish its context.

2-3.  Rumours and/or official announcements

The Internet is, without a doubt, a fantastic source of U2 news and information – but everything you read should be taken with a grain of salt.  Even broadcasters and the print media sometimes get it wrong.  If significant news about U2 is posted on the U2 New Zooland Forums (including such things as album/single release information, upcoming media appearances and tour dates), the source of the information should be quoted.  People can then judge for themselves how accurate or reliable it is.

2-4.  Flaming

Personal attacks, or “flames”, are not permitted.  Disagreement is not the same as attack.  We are people of varied opinions, and will naturally disagree at times.  A certain amount of "thick skin" is necessary in any Internet forum.  Do not take a strong statement of opinion as an attack.  But attacks on another poster (as opposed to their argument) violate this Terms of Service agreement.  A poster who engages in such personal attacks may be banned from the forums.  Personal attack may be defined as any behaviour designed to make a poster feel unwelcome on the forum.  This would include, for example, racial, ethnic, religious, and sexual slurs, or scorn directed at another poster, or attempts to drive another poster off the forums.  Threads with the purpose of criticising or insulting another poster will be removed.

Threats of violence (or of any other nature) are absolutely not tolerated.  Even suggested violence in jest, against board members or any other real person, public or private, will be removed and the poster will be permanently banned from these forums.

2-5.  Foul language

A certain level of common-place "swearing" in posts is likely to be tolerated by the forum moderators, depending on its context.  However, excessively crude, foul, or vulgar language will be removed, and the member responsible for posting it will be warned.  A continued pattern of posting vulgar language will result in the poster being banned from these forums.

2-6.  Alcohol, tobacco, & illegal substances

The administrators of these forums have a zero tolerance policy on posts promoting the use of illegal substances and underage use of tobacco or alcohol.  However, posts containing information or references to responsible alcohol consumption or tobacco usage in appropriate settings by persons of legal age are permitted.
