JAY-Z TO JOIN U2 AS VERY SPECIAL GUEST IN AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND

Live Nation Global Touring and Michael Coppel have today confirmed that JAY-Z will join U2 as the very special guest for dates in New Zealand and Australia. The U2 360° Tour will visit Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Perth.

With hits such as 99 Problems, Empire State of Mind and Dirt Off Your Shoulder, and ten Grammy awards, JAY-Z is one of the most successful artists of all time. His last record Blueprint 3 was one of the biggest selling records of 2010, and was JAY Z’s 11th Number 1 album - putting him ahead of Elvis for most Number 1 albums by any solo artist. JAY-Z last played Australia in 2006 and he has never played in New Zealand.

U2 and JAY-Z performed Sunday Bloody Sunday in front of Brandenburg Gate, Berlin in November 2009.The U2 360° Tour kicked off it’s second European leg in Turin, Italy this month and will visit 17 cities, including Moscow and Istanbul, before finishing at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on 8th October. By the time it reaches New Zealand and Australia, U2 360° will have been seen by over 4 million fans in 2009 - 2010.

U2 360° is a unique experience for concertgoers - featuring a cylindrical video system of interlocking LED panels, and a steel structure rising 150 feet from the floor over a massive stage. This staging configuration allows for spectacular sight lines throughout the stadium. In all 5 cities there will be tickets available from $39.90, with general admission floor tickets available at $99.90. Additional reserved seat tickets also available starting at $99.90.

Tickets for the U2 performances in Australia and New Zealand will go on sale Friday, September 3rd at all usual outlets. U2.com subscribers will be able to buy tickets ahead of the public on-sale. Full details at: www.u2.com

 I second that. Perhaps someone else will start a "We Don't Jay-Z as support for U2" group along with the other "petitions" popping up!

why, why why the f.... did they go for Jay Z, can understand Linkin Park using him but with U2 I would have hoped for better like Snow Patrol.

On the plus side it may make it easier to get tickets

This has got to be my favourite comment re Jay-Z supporting U2:

"much like Monet touring with a 4 year old who finger paints".

:roflmao:

I heard it on the 10.30 news. Very disappointed. Why is it that Europe and the States get the likes of Muse, Snow Patrol and Black Eyed Peas and we get stuck with Kayne West and Jay Z. What sort of music do U2 think we like down here!!
This will not go down well.

My son just played some of Jay-Z'd music off you tube. God it is bad. His music is certainly not going to warm up the crowd. Guess I will have to bring my ear plugs so that I won't get a head ache. I am interested to see if some of our younger members like that type of music or is it me not liking it as I am older?

Would have preferred a band from a similar genre - but oh well.

Jay-Z is an improvement from Kayne West in my eyes, so it's not all bad.

Yep, it's all relative I guess! In saying that, hearing most of our GA section at the second Auckland concert singing "I ain't sayin' you're a stink singer..." at poor old Kanye at the top of our voices was sort of funny...
